Day 24: Wolf’s Cry

Day 24:
Wolf’s Cry
Size: 5 x 7 inches / 13 x 18 cm
Medium: watercolor and ink

Available for purchase? YES

1) What inspired this piece?
I was looking at inverse photography of the forest and found myself really drawn to that inverted lighting.

2) Why did you give it that title?
I was thinking of the night view of the sky in the woods. All you need is a wolf’s howl to make the mood complete.

3) Did you use a photo reference or model?
I was working on a scrapbook page with a friend for another friend. We had a scrapbook page with a background photograph of a forest at night. We wanted the other page to be inverted form that photograph. After doing that, I thought it would also be fun to draw with ink.

4) Is there a story or message in this piece?
Seek out the beauty of the night from time to time. See what the wolf sees, what the owl sees, what the raccoon sees. It’s refreshing.

5) Any other thoughts?
Inverted colors are fun to play with!
