Spray Paint Art: My First!

Several months ago, I tried out speed spray paining for the first time.

I loved it!

After researching some techniques, I ran to the local dollar store to get some bowls and cups to help me get started. I started by putting down a few layers of paint, then placing the bowls and cups around the canvas board, and lastly laying down a few more paint layers, here was the result:

But I didn’t stop there. I created a stencil using vinyl fabric, and sprayed a shadowy silhouetted figure over the planets:

Once I was finished, I named it “Galaxy Inside” because I believe that while no man is an island, each of us has a galaxy inside to share with those around us. We have all been made unique and infinite by the Creator. May you always remember to cherish other people and to cherish yourself!

And I am glad to say that this piece is hanging somewhere along the streets of Irwin, Pennsylvania as part of the Norwin Art League’s ongoing Art in the Streets project. I haven’t seen where it hangs yet myself, but it’s out there in the world somewhere, helping to liven up the streets of downtown Irwin. I am so glad to be a part of their art project!

Lastly, I put together a short video showing the painting process from beginning to end. Spray painting is inherently a very quick process, so the video is sweet, quick, and to the point!

I’ve since returned to the art store to buy up MORE spray paint colors, and I cannot wait to do more art with spray paints. As you can see, I am gearing up this time with the proper equipment (so I can breathe, aye!) and am rearing to go! So, stay tuned for more spray paint art in the near future.

Thank you all for reading. I appreciate you all for taking the time to read my words and check out my art. Blessings to you all!

Yours sincerely,
Stephanie Oplinger
