1) What
inspired this piece?
I
photograph by a deviantArt.com user. I really love converse shoes. Sadly, I don’t think I can ever
pull of wearing them, so I settle for painting them. There are so many cute pop
culture photographs with them recently. They are really fun images.
2) Why did
you give it that title?
It was
what was written on the shoe, and the shoes are a lovely shade of green. And
for some reason, it all had the feel of the song “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down. I
believe that original title by the photographer may also have been titled that.
3) Did you
use a photo reference or model?
Yep. I would love to point you to the photographer’s deviantArt page, but unfortunately, her page is no longer accessible.
4) Is
there a story or message in this piece?
Hmmm… I
always associated the 3 Doors Down song with this… trying to be a hero, and
hoping someone will still be there to love you when you’re not, I suppose. Also, Superman – I’ve always loved the story of Superman.
5) Any
other thoughts?
Converses
are so fun.
