Zombie Special Effects Makeup

My talented art buddy Courtney and I decided to run off and join the Pittsburgh Zombie Walk back on the 12th,  and so we whipped out our makeup and did up our faces in fabulous gore!

Courtney says her character is a punk zombie hunter, with a penchant for beating her monsters to death with sticks and wrenches, who just got bitten.

With such a great character backstory at my side, I felt I had to come up with something equally good! My poor character is a rock star, who got in a horrific car crash and, as she climbed from the wreckage, was attacked by a zombie and bitten. The virus is taking over and already spreading through her veins.

Okay, so maybe the character narratives were over the top, but the two characters made a great duo:

All the makeup came from either Walmart (Halloween costume season section) or the closing fun party store (face paint selection). Nothing we used on this project was particularly special or expensive. I made my cuts using cotton balls and liquid latex adhesive.

I put together a video of Courtney and I working on my face paint and effects (and included a peek of the going-ons at the Pittsburgh Zombie Walk). Check it out:

I used two really great tutorials by a makeup artist on Youtube: MadeYewLook
Cuts and class tutorial
Zombie bites tutorial

I am really excited that I’ve been trying more and more makeup effects and that Courtney shares my passion (and her body art tips!!) with me.

Adieu for the moment,
