No, son. Here, let me show you…

1) What
inspired this piece?
I was staring
at the small sheet of black paper, and I just started thinking about white
dandelions, and someone blowing them.
2) Why did
you give it that title?
In the
end, when I was finished drawing this, it looked like the dandelions were part
of the universe, that they were in fact the stars. And then, a boy’s voice came
to me with his mother’s answering reply. He thinks the universe is cold, but
his mother takes it as her duty to show him the good and the wonder in our
world. It’s a story.
3) Did you
use a photo reference or model?
Nope. This
came solely from my imagination.
4) Is
there a story or message in this piece?
I think
there is the message to leave yourself open to wonder. There are indeed many
cold and terrible places in the universe, but there is still much wonder. Don’t
close yourself off to the good just because of all the bad.
5) Any
other thoughts?

I really
love both the whimsy and depth of this piece. I hope you all feel the same way
about it!
